The Eco Council operates at several age groups so that all pupils have the opportunity to engage with it. Since the school opened in 2000, the Eco Council has enabled pupils to have first hand experience of sustainability and environmental issues. The pupils are real ambassadors for the school and have promoted sustainability very actively.
Eco Council Green Flag Group - Years 1,2,3,4,5 & 6
These pupils have a good understanding of sustainability and recognise practical opportunities for embedding sustainability in school. They have undertaken waste free lunch campaigns, monitored food waste (and suggested ways to reduce it) and regularly develop projects in school to reduce, reuse, recycle and respect. They have created Powerpoint presentations which they have presented to the Borough Council, other Norfolk schools countywide and participated in several Eco conferences for pupils. Their aim is to keep their ECO green-flag award which they achieved in 2013 and renewed in 2015 by continually looking at new projects. The new project for 2015-16 is healthy eating, food and farming including bio-diversity.
In July 2016, a group from Year6 gave a presentation about the Eco work at our school to Elm and Stoke Ferry schools.
